Bordered by two oceans, with a mountain range from top to bottom, Costa Rica has some of the most diverse wildlife in the world. The great variety of ecosystems in Costa Rica ranges from lowland tropical rainforest, cloud forests, and dry forests to coral reefs, mangrove estuaries, and even high mountaintops.

About one fourth of the land in Costa Rica has been set aside for conservation in the form of national parks and biological preserves. Visitors have the chance to see sloths, lizards, turtles, dolphins, monkeys, and about 850 species of birds. The plant life consisting of tall trees, hanging vines and gorgeous flowers such as orchids live in abundance in the forests of Costa Rica.
